If David Lynch was directing a movie about a post hardcore band, you’d get Choke Up. The lyrics layout a story that only singer/guitarist Sam Johnson can tell. It doesn’t matter if they are his own or not, because you are already hooked. You’ve already fallen for the characters. Nathan, James, and Harley bring the music to life providing an emotional rollercoaster of dynamics into the songs.
2017 brought the release of “Stormy Blue” on Say-10 Records. A follow up to “Black Coffee, Bad Habits”. Stormy Blue takes a current day Choke Up into a Delorean, only to end up in a 1950’s diner with Elvis playing in the jukebox. Sonically there is a shift but the attitude and heartache is all the same.
